The Firefly Lantern Parade

Every night the fireflies hold a glowing lantern parade through the forest for all the sleepy animals.

When the last bit of daylight faded from the forest, something magical happened in the tall grass. One by one, tiny lights blinked on. Blink. Blink-blink. The fireflies were waking up, polishing their little glowing lanterns for the grandest event of the night.

Every firefly carried a lantern made from a dewdrop, filled with warm golden light. They lined up their lanterns in a row and counted them twice, just to be sure. Tonight is the night of the great parade, said Freddie, and every lantern must shine its very best.

Tiny Lanterns Light Up

Freddie the firefly was the parade leader. He zipped in circles, checking every lantern. Brighter, friends, brighter! he called. The fireflies glowed gold and green, lighting up the dark paths between the flowers. Even the sleepy hedgehogs peeked out to watch.

The Parade Begins

Then the parade began! The fireflies floated in a long, twinkling line over the meadow, around the pond, and through the trees. Their lanterns danced like tiny stars on Earth. The rabbits watched from their burrows, the baby deer watched from the grass, and everyone agreed it was the prettiest sight of the night.

The parade floated past the pond, where the frogs croaked a happy rhythm. It drifted through the flower field, where the sleeping daisies glowed softly. The fireflies spelled out shapes in the air: first a star, then a heart, then a great big smile for the forest.

The baby rabbits clapped their paws. The ducklings quacked with joy. Even the grumpy old badger poked his head out of his burrow and smiled. The fireflies glowed a little brighter, happy to share their light with everyone.

Owl Cheers the Loudest

Old Owl, who was wide awake as always, hooted the loudest cheer of all. Beautiful! he called. The fireflies bowed their tiny heads. Then, one by one, they dimmed their lanterns and drifted off to their beds under the leaves, until the forest was quiet and dark again.

Moral of the Story

Sharing your light makes the dark a happier place for everyone, so let your kindness glow bright.
