Prophet Nuh and the Great Ark

Mocked for building a giant ship in the middle of dry land, Prophet Nuh saves the believers when the great flood finally comes.

For nine hundred and fifty years, one man kept calling his people to the truth. Prophet Nuh spoke to them in the morning and in the evening, in public and in private. Some listened — but most covered their ears, laughed at him, and worshipped their idols instead.

Then Allah gave Nuh an unusual command: build a great ship — an ark — on dry land, far from any sea. Nuh obeyed, though he had no idea why a ship would be needed where there was no water.

The Laughing Crowd

As the wooden walls of the ark rose higher, the people gathered to mock him. "Look at the old man!" they jeered. "Building a ship in the desert! Has he lost his mind?" Nuh answered them with calm dignity: "You laugh at us now, but soon you will know who the foolish ones were."

Patiently, plank by plank, the ark took shape. Nuh was building it exactly as Allah had shown him, and his small group of believers helped him with love and trust.

The Flood

Then the signs began. Water burst from the ground, and rain poured from the sky in a way no one had ever seen. The rivers overflowed, the valleys filled, and the flood rose until it covered the hills and the rooftops of the houses.

Nuh had already taken pairs of every kind of animal into the ark, along with the believers. As the great ship floated on the waves, Nuh saw his own son struggling in the water, calling to a mountain for safety. "My son, come aboard with us!" Nuh cried. But the son refused — and the waves came between them. Even a prophet cannot save someone who refuses to listen.

A New Beginning

The flood lasted for many days, and the ark sailed safely through it all, guarded by Allah. When the waters finally went down, the ark came to rest on a mountain, and the believers stepped out onto a fresh, clean earth.

The mockers were gone, but the faithful remained — a new beginning for humanity, built on the patience of one man who never stopped calling to the truth, even when everyone laughed.

Two by Two

When the command came to load the ark, something wonderful happened. From the valleys and hills, pairs of animals began to arrive — two lions, two doves, two camels, two of every kind, walking calmly toward the great ship as if guided by an unseen hand. The small group of believers watched in amazement as the ark filled with life.

Nuh welcomed them all aboard with gratitude. Every creature had its place, and the believers shared their food and water with the animals. The ark became a floating world of faith — humans and animals together, all saved by obedience to Allah.

Lesson of the Story

Do not mock what you do not understand. Patience and obedience to Allah save us, while pride and mockery destroy — the ark of truth always reaches the shore.
