The Miraculous Birth of Prophet Isa
Alone under a palm tree, Maryam gives birth to a child through a miracle — and the newborn baby speaks to defend his mother.
Maryam was alone when the pains of childbirth came upon her. She was a pure and devoted young woman who had spent her life in worship, and now Allah had blessed her with a child — without any father. It was a miracle, but she knew her people would not understand.
Holding onto the trunk of a date palm tree for support, she whispered, "I wish I had died before this and been forgotten." But a voice called out to comfort her: "Do not grieve. Your Lord has placed a stream beneath you. Shake the palm tree, and fresh dates will fall for you. Eat, drink, and be comforted."
Under the Palm Tree
As Allah had promised, the dry old palm tree gave her sweet, ripe dates, and the stream flowed cool and clear. Maryam ate, drank, and found strength. In her arms lay her newborn son — Isa, a prophet of Allah, born by the word "Be" — and there was nothing between Allah and His command.
Allah told her: when you meet your people, do not speak. Point to the baby, and let him answer. So Maryam wrapped the child warmly and carried him back to her town.
The Accusation
When the people saw her with a baby, they were shocked. "Maryam!" they cried. "How could you do such a thing? Your father was a good man and your mother was pure!" They pointed fingers and whispered, and Maryam said nothing. She simply pointed to the baby in her arms.
The crowd laughed bitterly. "How can we talk to a baby in the cradle?" they scoffed. And then the miracle happened.
The Baby Speaks
The newborn baby opened his mouth and spoke in a clear voice: "I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. He has made me blessed wherever I am, and He has commanded me to pray and give charity as long as I live — and to be kind to my mother."
The crowd fell completely silent. A baby in a cradle, speaking like a wise man, defending his mother's honor and announcing his own prophethood. There was no doubt left: this was a sign from Allah, and Maryam was innocent and pure.
Miracles of the Child
As Isa grew, Allah gave him miracles that left people speechless. With clay he fashioned the shape of birds, then breathed into them — and by Allah's permission they came alive and flew away. He healed those born blind and cured the lepers, all by Allah's leave.
He never claimed to be more than a servant and messenger of Allah, and every miracle pointed people back to the One God. The boy who had spoken in the cradle grew into a prophet whose life was a chain of wonders — each one a reminder that Allah's power has no limits.
Lesson of the Story
Allah's power has no limits — He creates however He wills. When people judge you unfairly, stay patient and let the truth speak for itself; Allah always defends the innocent.
